#Pi3 replacement?

I've been running HA on a pi3 for a few months now but it's very sluggish and I'm not doing much on it currently other than controlling some lights and monitoring a 3D printer. I also run AdGuard home on it through the HA addon.

I was looking to upgrade to a pi 4 or 5 but looking online this is a bad idea too because running from an SD card is not ideal.

Can anyone recommend different hardware to run HA on? Ideally low power usage like a pi and if possible silent/fanless although that's not a dealbreaker.

I've found this Futro S740 on eBay, would this be okay or would I get better spending a little extra? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/326167795451

Location: UK
Budget: up to £100 all in (machine, plus SSD/m.2 upgrade if needed etc)

I'd recommend a (U)SFF or Mini PC similar to what you linked. However the device you linked is a thin client. It has very little storage and uses a "special" mSATA device I would not recommend. It's also quite slow. Buy something with intel's 4th or 6th gen if cost is a concern.

Thanks, I'll try looking for something a little faster.

What's the issue with mSATA? (I'm clueless)

There's few options, few things use it, it's relatively expensive.

That looks fine to me. You can even virtualize on it which I highly recommend. Unless you want to add big HDDs or PCIe cards I think it's a good choice.

Yeah after reading up some more I think I will go the proxmox route on it
