#Shelly 1 Plus not changing modes

I just got a Shelly 1 Plus to try out, and I cannot seem to get it to change the relay type to anything other than toggle.

My setup is just a simple bench test at the moment: Line connected to L, I, and one pole of a switch. Other pole goes to SW. O connected to a light. Other leg of light and N both tied to neutral.

If I change the relay type to "Edge" or "Detached" and hit save, there is no change in behavior - turning the physical switch on turns the output on and turning it off turns the output off.

If I reboot the unit, and go back in to the setting it is back to "Toggle", so it seems like the change is just not sticking. I'm on the latest firmware.

Am I missing a setting somewhere?

do other settings save correctly or specifically just the mode setting?

I think I figured it out - apparently the app just sucks.

I went to the local IP of the device and configured it that way, and it worked fine. One thing of note - when I changed output type to "edge", it automatically changed "Action on power on for Output(0)" to "Restore last known state of output/relay". It was previously on "Current state of the switch", and that is now grayed out as an option. The app was not doing that.

Can you provision new devices without the app?

#

yeah, when they are new they act as an AP. you connect and can access the web ui

#

i think its 192.168.4.1 when you connect. or whatever gateway its dhcp server gives you

#

then you just configure your network settings and your away

No way to do it directly through HA though right?

i do it though my phone, connect to its AP and insert my wifi network credentials and as soon as it connects to the network home assistant will see it and you can add

#

i have a load of shelly devices and have always done it this way

yeah not too bad since you just have to do it once.

#

I wish they had a zigbee version, but otherwise I like them so far. price is great
