Hi, I have two Voice Preview Editions. One is in its original enclosure, and the other is in a 3D printed enclosure. While following the disassembly steps here (https://voice-pe.home-assistant.io/guides/disassemble/), at step 7, the rotary encoder accidentally came disassembled. I reassembled it but now the volume dial does not work correctly (it mostly only goes "up," but sometimes it doesn't even want to do that.) Is there a guide or photos on how to correctly reassemble the rotary encoder so it works again?

Hey @tawdry seal let me see if I can ping someone who has gone through this.
Hey @tawdry seal
I torn out and rebuilt a lot of VPE .
The good news is that I never borke one to a point where it stoped working
The bad news is that once the dial is dissasembled, it's a pretty complex trial and error process to put it back together
I am going to try and make a few videos of a re-assembly for you
Appologies in advance for the quality, these peices are SUPER SUPER small.
Alright let start by the beginning. These are all the prices you need to reassemble the dial
(Meanwhile ping @kindred cape in case you want to give more recommendations 😄 )
Step 1
Step 2
Step 3
Step 4
@kindred cape I hope I did not forget to assemble the led diffuser here. …..
No I think it’s later. It’s the next part
Step 5
And yrah that's the last step .
You can catch up the reassembly guide afterwards
Thank you soooo much! Step 3 was where I was messed up. Thank you, thank you! I did not realize the metal disc clipped into the black "cap" piece before attaching to the main board. I had it loosely between the two, and that would definitely explain my symptoms.
Ahah yep!
Happy tinkering ! I hope you did not break something by putting it loosely in between the other pieces
What we noticed with @kindred cape is that even if the dial re assembly is finicky …. The parts are actually pretty solid
We made tons of mistakes and reassembled lots in different ways and never broke anything
Thanks again! Took a couple tries but I was able to get it reassembled and working correctly thanks to your videos. Thank you, thank you! One small note, at step 2, the "fingers" should be pointing downwards, at the main board. It was a little tricky to tell in the video which way they were oriented.
