#Smart "Light Socket"?

smart relay in line with the switch?
there's a switch in there, the string just pulls on the switch
you're talking something like this, right? https://www.screwfix.com/p/british-general-6a-1-way-pull-cord-switch-white/88475
More like this
I could put the relay inside the ceiling, but I was trying to avoid that
Why?
Mostly convenience
All my other relays are hardwired behind the switches, I was just hoping to get away with being lazy this time 😂
Fair enough
There are smart pull cord switches around which would be a straight swap
But I don't know of a smart "interface" that can turn a dumb socket smart
Honestly feels like kind of an obvious device type, wonder why no company has tried making one
Certain smart home ecosystems have those resistive load E26 things to help if you don't have a neutral, wonder if this imaginary device could use a similar principle
i think the main reason is size, you need a certain minimum size to fit the relay, control circuit etc as well as a M-F connector, and all of that will stick out of the connector and look a bit shit, and you won't end up with anything better than just buying a smart bulb
