#Voice Assistant PE: not having a good OOBE

I've been happily using Voice Assistant with the M5 Atom and openWakeWord but obviously the audio quality is not so good so I purchased a Voice Assistant PE however I wonder if I've made a mistake?

It doesn't seem possible, as far as I can tell from poking the Home Assistant UI and searching on the Home Assistant forums, to use Voice Assistant PE with openWakeWord: there is no option to have the wake word in Home Assistant.

I've tried adopting the device in ESPHome Device Builder to take control but that fails with what appears to be an ESP-IDF v5 incompatibility (likely because of the issue below).

Is there any way to use openWakeWord with Voice Assistant PE or do I need to send it back?

FYI, it also needed to be regressed to FW version 24.12.3 to connect to my Wifi network (reported in https://github.com/esphome/home-assistant-voice-pe/issues/327), hence the "bad feeling about this".

FYI, I have been able to take the yaml from JLo provided by wmaker in this forum post and apply it to the most recent version of the home-assistant-voice-pe repo on a fork which can be found here. This appears to make my device work fine with openWakeWord; not tested for hours yet, but looking good so far.

I have also managed to find out what is up with Wifi connectivity since 24.12.3, a deeper problem, and fixed it locally to my satisfaction.

So much happier now :-), I won't need to send the device back.
