#Sonoff Inching in HA

I have various sonoff devices that have inching available. This allows to manually turn on the switch and due to inching, it will turn off on x ammount of time.

I know i can use a delay automation but it would be better if i can set this directly through the inching entity of my device. Thing is that such entity is not being shown for my sonoff switch in HA. Any clue ?

What the heck is "inching"?

#

it sounds like you mean "ramp rate" or something like that for dimming

Imching basically is a sort of delay timer. It is used to set inching for example to 1hr, so when the switch is manually turned on it will turn off after 1 hr.

I used to have all automations directly in the ewelink app but decided to use HA for this to have everything controlled directly from ha.

I think that sonoff doesnt expose this entity but not 100% sure. I have a tapo switch that also uses inching and i can infact see this entity in HA and directly set the inching entity value easily and avoid complex delay timers etc

I see. I've never heard that term before

I don't have any devices that support such a feature. It's all done in HA

Its a very useful feature. And i correct myself the inching feature i can see is infact of my other sonoff switches, its referred to as "pulse width" in HA and i can directly input a value for that entity without going through automations

#

Well i guess that not all devices expose their entities the same. Weird. Maybe someone with more expertise in this can provide input

I have a PyScript script that I use for all my lighting to control auto on/off
