OK, so i have been running the tuya integration for a while and i'm now starting to see the benefits of offline control. I've used localtuya in the past, i have read about all the changes since then, and set it up again with updated details.

BUTT!!! big butttttttttt

there's a limit to how many controllable devices i can send from tuya cloud to be controlled by my HASS. I can only add 13 of 27 devices.
is there a work around? alternate approach that isn't completely manual?

i havnt been able to get tuya-cli to do much either.

Update: I just stumbled onto tuya-cloudcutter ..... I'm gunna look into it tomorrow if it will even cover my devices or is an approach I want to do.
So still looking for others opinions options

@faint abyss sorry for necro but I’ve just done this to a load of devices I still had kicking around on Tuya local. 8 successful so far, 2 plugs that are patched firmware so no go and 1 outdoor string light controller that lacks AP mode so is a no go, those can stay in Tuya local

If you have (or had if you’ve already taken the dive) as much luck as me you’ll be fine to split them. Give me a tag if you do need a hand with Cloud Cutter.

haven’t opened one, just attempted flash 😛

sometimes guess the profile by firmware using Linux if there isn’t a direct match (it fails if wrong type doesn’t brick) then flip to Windows for itchiptool to build the configs. Flash with esphome-kickstart for this part, haven’t dived into the other firmware as already familiar with esphome.

#

If you haven’t used esphome before you’ll need to get that setup. Believe it’s built into full HA (or an add on?),if in docker you’ll need to get it running externally (docker is also easy for this)

#

Then you just import the config from itchiptool, change gamma correction to 1.0 (every bulb I’ve done has this baked in but ymmv so check if it functions fine before on low % without turning off fully)

The only device that too a bit more was a Nebula light but thankfully someone had fully built out that on GitHub.

I believe it’s only wb3s you can’t pull the configs for with itchiptool so they are the only gamble, and that was the nebula light for me everything else has been bk7321n or bk7321t
