I have an old thermostat(honeywell t8002) that can only be programed 5 days and a weekend and I am planning on replacing with a zigbee one but I don't know which one are good or not. budget is 150 cad before tax. Amazon, homedepot or anywhere that is available in the Toronto area. Preferably not used because I do not want to touch it or replacement for a while. I sent a wiring diagram.

I just bought few from HeatIt, they were wifi/bluethoot ones with open api, but they also have zigbee ones afaik.

Get one that is Wi-Fi for better range and reliability. The stat wiring will power it

The problem I found with wifi is they tend to be non-local, requiring a proprietary app or cloud -- do you know of a good local wifi one? I am using Honeywell T6 Zwave, which work OK, but were quite pricy and communication over zwave is not as reliable as wifi.

The one I mentioned in the beginning does not require cloud/app after installing. It offers open api which can be used over rest integration from HA

I use the ecobee3 lite which is local push via the HomeKit integration

My router indicates that I have 56 Wi-Fi devices of all kinds in my home and I don't have any Wi-Fi issues with any of them. I don't even need or use Wi-Fi mesh or repeaters. I also have 36 Zigbee devices that use the same 2.4 GHz frequency range that Wi-Fi uses. Your problem isn't Wi-Fi. Your problem is your crummy Wi-Fi.

@hot folio I've seen recommendations for this https://venstar.com/thermostats/explorer/ thermostat due to it's open API but I don't have any experience with it. Let me know what you decide!
