I have 10 MrCool units in my house, and more than half of them are detecting the temp in the room very wrong. Right now the Sonoff SNZB-02P is showing 81F, and the MrCool thinks it's 64F. The room temp is set to 70F so it just keeps blowing hot air.
I would like to put a small temp sensor in every room. I like the SNZB-02P for it's small size, but I've heard they can be a pain when the battery needs changed. I don't need humidity, and wouldn't mind if it was AC/USB powered.
I have ZHA set up, so Zigbee is fine, though I have a lot of "end units", so anything that's a repeater is a bonus.

The Aquara ZigBee ones are quite good. Batteries last about 1-2 Years so you don't need to occupy any sockets

Alternatively Ikea has their air quality monitor (the one with the display) which also does temp & humidity & is powered through USB & does router things

maybe an ESP32-H2 with ESPHome, or custom C++ code + a temperature sensor? just my 2 cents

they are pretty much dirt cheap
