I’ve got a shelly mini G3 and i am wondering if HA can operate shelly + govee smart lights in detached mode. Thank you

its not currently on the supported list found here - https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/govee_light_local/

however that is not to say that it wont work, it may just not be on the comfirmed list. there are also some HACS intergrations for govee which may support other devices.

if you do get the light into HA you can definetly use the shelly in detached mode to control the light

maybe someone else has tried this specific model can chime in otherwise maybe you could check the supported model list and find something that does the same job as the H601A

Thank you, another QQ: does having devices that are all matter/thread compatible eliminate the need for a smart hub like home assistant?

i havent used matter/thread stuff but i would say no. but it may depend on your use case

Ok, i do have Alexa and it doesn’t have close to the flexibility that Home Assistant offers. I would imagine some Matter Controller would be needed for complex dependencies between smart devices

Success! Thanks Michael, I had to use the HACS integration and it all worked as I planned it. Thanks to Florian Lagg who wrote the integration 🙏🏻

I wanted to circle back here and let everyone know, the HACS Govee integration by LaggAt is probably one of the early ones and is non functional at this moment. After a day’s use, it heavily rate limits you. Pretty much is unusable right now.
Then I moved on to Govee2MQTT, this one was okay, had a lot of additional entities that cluttered my dashboard. And was very slow, got the same rate limiting issue I presume but it doesn’t break.
Then, i moved on to GoveeLife seeing that they are using the newer Govee API and it was still not instantaneous. Better than Govee2MQTT for sure. But it still takes like 5-10 seconds for the lights come on or go off if you trigger the requests consecutively.

Just sharing for anyone who is looking for this info.
