My location shows as Away when I’m away from home and my wife has the app set-up exactly the same as mine, in terms of location but for her it doesn’t update and always shows as Home.
I’ve tried deleting her entities and logging in again but to no avail..
Her phone is set as a device tracker in Persons, everything is as it should be.
We use iPhones.

Yes, otherwise data has no path from her phone to your home
Make sure her user is not “local only” as well

No sorry :/ you can also configure remote access for free, just takes more effort and maintenance once in a while

Alternatively you can use another form of presence detection. If your router has an integration (as an example) you can tie a device with ip to your wife’s user.
This can be a little finicky on iPhones as afaik because of sometimes going off network for standby.
Alternatively Bluetooth presence detection.
I used the “on WiFi then home” method for a couple of years before I subbed to nabu.
