#Confused by voice-created timers

Maybe im just understanding this incorrectly, but ive got several voice sattelites setup with piper and all that jazz- works fine.

I read timers are now natively supported, so lets give that a go!
Okay Nabu, set a timer for 10 seconds

  • Sure, setting a timer for 10 seconds. (audible feedback through sattelite)
10 seconds later, the light on the satellite starts flashing untill i press a button on the sattelite, but there was no alarm sound.

Okay, i can fix this i think - ill just have to manually add an alarm sound somewhere. But i cant find any trace anywhere of the timer even existing or being set at some point.

So, 2 questions:

  1. is an alarm supposed to sound at timer end, and if so, any clue why im only seeing a flashing light?
  2. Where can i adjust the timer behavior, or find any trace of them firing - i dont see them in the log, nor on the sattelite log. Im lost with where to start looking it seems.

Aah thanks, thats a good point to start for me.

ALthough, i would then still be slightly confused as the release notes at some point kinda made it seem like it would all just work out of the box (which it almost fully does it seems)

Ill test again if my voicePE arrives to see if that device does automatically make an alarm sound as expected. Otherwise, ill definitly dive into the on_timer_finished hook and see what i can do. Thanks

but that's because it uses custom components which allow it to store and play audio files directly in the firmware, which the official components still can't do. yet 😄 🤞
