Hello all! I am new to Matter and trying to setup a Matter server to which I can connect a Python client. I have tried two approaches. Building Matter and also the python-matter-server package via pip.

The latter approach seems to be the most direct but is missing chip. exceptions, which cannot be found for installation by pip.

I am not certain how to proceed from here. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

er, what exactly is your goal here? This doesn't really seem to be related to home assistant, where the preferred setup is to run the matter server add-on on HAOS, and then interact with it via the matter integration included with home assistant.

#

at that point, matter devices show up as normal entities in home assistant, which you can interact with without needing to know anything matter specific.

Matter is in the Home Assistant GIT repo and what I was looking at was the Python server lib. However, what you are stating sounds like a potentially more direct starting point.

If you don't mind one follow-up question: is the HOAS in the Mac OS app store? If not, is there a GIT link?

HAOS is a whole ass os you run either bare metal or virtualized. I encourage you to read through the existing documentation on https://www.home-assistant.io/
