Is it possible to have presets (buttons) available and appear on a light dimmer device instead of dragging up/down to guess where the desired % value is? Currently, is just a slider and a power button. I'd like to be able to have a basic set of presets for all dimmers but also be able to customize it on a per device level.

I don't think that's an option, but you could always have buttons on your dashboard to set it to a certain level.
I thought about using scenes, but with a large number of lights, that would be a very large number of scenes. I was hoping for more of a configuration that would apply across the board but still be customizable on a per device basis.
Like say, every dimmable light has five options: 20%, 40%, 60%, 80%, 100% or on. Or maybe four options: 25%, 50%, 75%, 100%. But then for certain lights I could customize that.
I'm in the process of migrating from HomeSeer and this is a feature that HomeSeer has on every device not just dimmables.
For example, here are one of my Z-Wave fans and an Insteon dimmable light in HomeSeer. The controls and status are independently configurable as well as the displayed icon based on the device's status. The "Status/Graphics" tab is available on every device.
To follow-up with what karwosts said, I have preset buttons on my dashboards. These are all custom:button-cards that I've configured to my own liking. Configuration templates were used to minimize repeating the configuration for each button. (The templates used are about 150 lines long.)
interesting... that could be a compromise (I was hoping to change the default/built-in light UI). would you be willing to share your YAML?

Unfortunately, this isn't an option. I, personally, wouldn't mind having an option for showing presets instead of the sliders. I'm not sure if the community would agree, though or know what it would take to make something like that happen. Perhaps something similar to how fans are adjusted might work.
