#Play notification sound when doors open, then resume media that was playing (if any)

Hello all!

I have an automation setup right now that plays a notification noise on our google home speakers when an exterior door is opened (basically a fancy door chime), but if I am playing something like Spotify on a speaker, it will interrupt that (which is fine) and then stop.

Is there a way to detect what is being played, pause it, play the notification, and then resume the other media? If not, I guess I can just not play my notification if that particular media player is already playing something, but I'd prefer to pause/resume, or duck the audio and play both...

Thanks in advance!!

I have adjusted my script to now check if the media player is playing something, and only send notification if it's not, but I'd like to either pause/resume, or overlay the notification sound if possible

What kind of media are you playing? A radio stream? Spotify? Something else?
And how do you start the media? By voice command?

Spotify usually, but could be YouTube, or Pandora, usually started from my PC

But if I could also apply to the sound bar connected to the TV it would be nice

If you start it from the PC, you could use Music Assistant

then it will automatically do what you want

Do you have a link for that?
