Does anybody have a recommendation on integrating with optical port of electricity meters? I am looking for IEC 629056-21 and not just pulse for energy consumption.
I need to be able to track both import and export.
I know that I can get a probe and build that from scrach, but was wondering if there is already built system I can just order.
Or is this too complicated of a route and integrating CT clamps is easier?

CT clamps will always be more reliable than an optical port, if you are okay with spending the money. I would recommend the shelly EM

Why would that be more reliable? I can query the meter for exact figures that it captured and I am invoiced for (for import and export).

Measurement errors are very common with an optical port

you are potentially talking about pulse count, not IEC 629056-21

I have no clue what that is sorry

Meters compatible with IEC 629056-21 have 2 ports: 1. pulse, 2 data exchange. Using #1 sometimes is not accurate, but that depends on implementation. The other is bi-directional so you send query and get an answer.

BTW, does Shelly EM support export and import capture?
