Hi @novel patrol,

I bought some new bulbs from Aqara and paired them via Matter over Thread to HA only. So far so good. But its too early to say something about stability. The brightness transitions are so smooth, and when you switch the bulbs off, the HA web ui switches don't switch on again for a second.

However... The latest available update seems to be 1.0.0.0: https://csa-iot.org/csa_product/led-bulb-t2-e27-rgb-cct-54/

Home Assistant offers me the update to 4.1.0 for both bulbs, which seems to be the latest Nanoleaf firmware (next to 4.1.3).

What is going on here?

Thanks Hoppel

Brighter Whites, Bolder Colors…

Yeah, I tested the Aqara bulbs and was really happy with them. Big difference compared to a certain other product launch 😉

#

The firmware updates come from DCL, not from the product catalog so that 4.1.0 version can be right

if I check the DCL, all the "Aqara Smart Light" list firmware 1.0.0.0 tho.

#

@eternal depot what's the specific vendor and product ids of your bulb?

By the way… I opened a Thread in the Aqara Thread, here are the answers in the discussion

#

So, it seems to be a bug. As you can see in the screenshot, there is another user with the same issue.

A rather dangerous bugs tbh

Yep

novel patrol

can you make a diagnostics dump and send it to me - in the meanwhile I will check the devices I have here but those were early editions

eternal depot
#

I do not see the update message anymore. But you will get the diagnostics file in a moment.

Ok the vendor ID and product ID are fine

#

This somehow smells like a very strange bug in our OTA logic then

#

somehow it matched the wrong device

I'm pretty sure the updat ewould have never succeeded

#

Just look in the Matter Server UI - endpoint 0 - BasicInformation cluster

#

so if you look at the raw attributes in the dump: "0/40/2" and "0/40/4"

this is confusing tho - nanoleaf hasn't even put the 4.1.0 firmware on the DCL

#

latest (on the production dcl, anyways) looks like it's still 3.6.196

#

have you been doing anything with testnet or trying to get non-dcl firmware updates applied to nanoleaf bulbs via home assistant?

Tried to reproduce this issue but I was not able so not sure what happened. Is it still mentioning this update ?

Today I installed 5 Aqara T2 GU10 bulbs. They all offered me the update to 4.1.0. These bulbs are paired to HA only. Here are the vendor and product id:

Hmm, strange, I will look into it. My review units I have here do nit show that, but those are early samples so not the same as now in production. Do you have test-net DCL enabled in the add-on settings for Matter ?

eternal depot
#

Yeah, that’s strange. No Testnet DCL is not and was never enabled.

novel patrol
#

Can you check Matter server logs please ?

#

It should print in the log what it discovered for the software updates

The last line is not for the new device.

#

So, I do not see any message regarding a firmware update.

Yeah, I have a feeliong that this comes from some cache in the HA side or something.
