#Additional modality: Heating power

Hello everyone,
I would like to monitor heating sources and sinks in my home.
They too have kWh unit, for sure and I already added them as custom devices.
The issue is, that the underfloor heating and the hot water preparation consume power, while the gas boiler and heatpump create power.
However, the dashboard assumes, that all entities consume power. And they assume everything is electric power.
It would be great to see a similar diagram for heat instead of electricity: with configurable consumers and producers.
This would allow to see the share of each entity and potential losses in the system.

Are there any workarounds to achieve this?
Are there plans to create a flexible version of the dashboard, which would allow to reuse the mechanisms for this additional entity (heating power in this case, but potentially this would make sense in different scenarios as well).

Cheers and thanks a lot
Paul

As far as I know, there are no plans to do this - the energy dashboard displays gas consumption but does not have any allowances for heat generation, distribution, storage, or consumption.
While it would be nice to have, I think the number of people who could actually use it is probably so low it'd be very unlikely to ever make it to the top of the todo list imo.

Quite a pity, but thank you very much for your answer.

The gas consumption is vague anyway, it doesn't know if it was used for heating, hot water for a bath, an oven or hob, or even just leaked out somewhere.
It's the same on the water side of things. It's hard to track where it is going, so there isn't a general need to do so

I think some of the HACS "power/energy flow" cards let you define things separate to the energy dashboard, so you might be able to do something with that

This depends on the installed system, I guess.
For me, I have the gas meter which I can read with a reed sensor.
And then there are "heat meters" for the generated heat from the gas boiler to the heat storage (1000l) and there is a heat meter for the heatpump and then one each for two separate circuits of underfloor heating and hot water generation (there is a heat exchanger from the storage).
So you are probably right, this setup seems to be rather uncommon in the USA and even here in Europe not everyone has those heat meters.

For me the boiler is the only consumer, but you are right, I could not now if there would be a gas oven.
