Hello, How are you?

Sorry for the noob question, but I'm moving to my first owned home and I'm want to get my setup ready.

I currently have a Nest Doorbell, yale x nest locks, nest thermostat and a google home compatible garage opener adapter.

I want to get a HA Green to be able to control more things, either from HA or google home I know most of the smart devices uses zigbee or z-wave but I don't know exactly what to buy besides the HA Green.

This is what I have in my list.
Do I need anything else?

I do have one more thing to say, the HA Green will be installed in the media box (i think thats the name) located in the laundry room on the second floor in one of the corners of the house, Do i need some kind of a signal extender or something like that? I know zigbee devices creates a mesh, but I'm worried of having some signal problem with a device located in the opposite corner of the house.

Thanks!

That should theoretically be all that is needed to get started with Homeassistant and ZigBee

you may want to build a mesh of mains connected zigbee devices that have a good reputation as routers first. then start adding endpoint devices. just to make sure you have a mesh that binds the whole house together.

smart bulbs are the main backbone in my mesh. with a few smart sockets mixed in.

you want to make sure that there is redundancy in your mesh so that one device (or one electric circuit) down doesn't leave parts of your mesh in the dark. literally...

i have not really investigated a lot. i have a mix of osram and ikea bulbs. i see some warnings about osram, but i have not had any problems.

when i decided to switch everything over i came across an ad on a classifieds site. someone selling a box of assorted bulbs and switches left over after smartification of a house. very cheap and most hadn't been unpacked at all.
