#Hidden Sidebar items not staying Hidden

The pic with 3 sidebar items is how I want it to look. After logging out and back in it defaults to original state. I’ve tried clearing cache in Chrome and restarted HA before logging back in. This is in a user account w/o admin privileges. Am I missing something? Thanks 🙏

Am I missing something?
Nope, that's how it works.

#

sidebar settings are only temporary

#

logout = gone

Bummer!

Yeah it's a popular thing to complain about 😅

I think I saw a HACS integration to fix it

#

But janky

Well now it’s documented with tags for the next guy so they know.. Hopefully if we find the answer we can update this.

Can confirm I'm getting this too. No matter the device or method I use to do this (web browser on Mac, app on Mac, Browser on phone, App on phone, tablet, etc.) hidden items in side panel reappear after page refresh or close and reopen app.

I wouldn't expect simply refreshing the page to clear it, unless you're in some kind of private mode or totally not allowing any storage/cache.

It does. 100% reproducible. I' on 2025.1.4

You can check your browser to see if it's keeping the data in localStorage.
This is chrome, I don't know where to look in Mac things.

The thing is, it does this in a web browser, in the desktop app, on the mobile app, etc.

#

No matter the device, no matter the connection method..

Well that's not my experience 🤷

So it looks like when I "hide" those items, there are 2 objects that are still present, despite nothing being there.

#

I have no idea what those are. I do have a dashboard that is using the mushroom auto dashboard fro HACS

Removing it did nothing

#

I have no idea where or what those sidebar icons are.

Ok I think I might have figured it out

#

Do you have Browser Mod installed?

#

If you do, go there and go to the very bottom of the page you should see this:

#

Open the sidebar order option and check the Global settings. If it doesn't say "Default" then this may be what's causing it:

#

I'm not sure how, but at some point I must have incidently clicked in here, and hit "edit" and whatever I had at the time of storing the sidebar was remembered. I figured this out by clicking around. However, the two dashboards I mentioned above were actually visible in the Value for Global, and this is what clued me in. I simply deleted it to restore the default, and now I can modify the sidepanel again. Refresh doesn't place everything back there.

let me know how it works out for you.

Browser Mod? In integrations? Sorry I’m very green and still need to learn basics like yaml.. and much more.

Now worries. I looked at you pictures up top, and it would seem you do not have this. It's a bit of a process to get installed, so you wouldn't accidently install it or something. Apologies, as it would seem my issue isn't the same issue. However, I would take a look at @keen latch posts, and see if you can look at the dev tools > storage > localstorage. This may help you a little.
