Energy dash usage with daily total gas kWh data

I have daily total kWh from gas device for the past date…comes exactly at 00:01 to the official app and I have it in HA. Stays like that until the next day and new delta value comes. That’s all I have. How to use energy dash for that? I used directly and energy dash goes to minus since my values are delta. I used utility meter with delta and daily reset it does not work, it gets a day and next day it does not update.

Don't use daily reset on the utility meter, just have it deal with the delta values and add them up forever

I tried net, I tried delta and I tried none of it still I see unknown value after a day or so…not sure what is wrong with it. Source showing correct kWh all day changing every day.

Them going to "unknown value after a day or so" is very different to what you original described "energy dash goes to minus since my values are delta"

Does the source sensor go unknown/unavailable - e.g. after a restart? in which case you need to tick the 4th option to keep the utility meter available like this

No source sensor never goes to zero. It keeps all day the yesterday’s total value. When I use the source sensor on energy dash it goes to minus next day, if I have had 20 the day before and 15 yesterday then energy dash shows -5 kWh down. I am trying to use utility meter for that reason but NET or DELTA or both flipped off goes with unknown in the utility meter.

You don't want net. Only delta

And leave it for a day, it should sort itself out

it really does not do it 🙂 i am puzzled... "unknown" are my utility meters with delta flipped on.

Can you show the entity history for the last couple of days for one of the base sensors?

whole month graph and some outliers from statistics from the dev tool. I see some negative entries in the source entity as well in the outliers, not yet discovered why but also every HA reboot entity reads kwH again, this is not really an issue for me, I can correct or fine tune but i cannot get any of these entries recorded in the utility meter i created.

honestly i dont know. I have 13 kwh last few days daily consuption on central heating this is all i see in the entity but dev tools stats has those outliers in the source entity... my utility meter entitiy i unknown at all times

I cross check with the actual device app, where the source is getting its values and what i see currently is correct 13 (12.96 kwh) exactly for yesterday total daily consumption

The utility meter will have no value until the next source updates, have you waited long enough?

You can also force a 'fake' state update to the source to test it, so you don't have to wait a day for each iteration

I just made a delta meter to test it and it updated correctly after the source updated.
