The Verge actually linked to one of my comments about the bad shape of it all.
Border routers interoperability are an absolute mess, TREL doesn't do what it promises and many home network gear is flawed with regards to IPV6 and/or multicast. In a perfect world where all the conditions are ideal it works great but it will take years before it will be what it promises in every household.

Just read through your comment to avoid matter 1.0 devices. Is there an easy way to see which matter version a product uses. The aqara p2 door sensor is what falls off my network the most often and I remember it came out pretty early into Matter so I'm guessing that might be a 1.0 device. Wasn't fully sure because I know aqara joined works with home assistant so maybe it's newer

Early versions of the P2 sensor had 1.0 firmware but I believe newer ones have 1.1 but not sure if they provide the update on DCL. I'll ask. You're sure the sensor is well within reach ? Because the only issue I'm aware of with the early P2 sensors is battery drain, which was solved in the newer firmware

It used to happen more often but no so much anymore the sensor is pretty close to the border router. I looked into the firmware a bit and it looks like you need their M3 hub to update the sensors which is annoying. But I'll keep in eye for when they disconnect again and see if I can find the log at that time. Haven't had any battery issues that I can tell though
