Just received my voice be thingy ๐Ÿ˜ Just want to provide my feedback/edges I've experiencing while getting it connected and working ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. Please print a shortened url on the onboarding sheet ๐Ÿ™‚ I prefer to have it open on my pc and would be nicer to have to type less ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. Prerequisites/Onboarding via phone:

Have the Home Assistant companion app installed on your iPhone or Android and configured to connect to your Home Assistant instance. Make sure the version is up to date.

Please clarify that HA also needs to be up to date (or have a minimum version) I was still on 2024.11 and it didn't work until upgrading (to 2025.1)

  1. Just entered wifi credentials, clicked next and get asked If I'd like to add ESPHome. I'm a bit confused right now, because I've got already a configured ESPHome node (external, not as an addon). Check the guide again, not stated there. Solution: I need the IP/hostname of the device. I prefer to keep IOT devices on a separate WiFi/VLAN so they aren't able to reach the internet, but are available inside my network. Seems like the auto-configuration failed for some reason

  2. Next screen: My voice assistant isn't able to connect to HA. Help link of the screen helped me find the network settings and fix the local network url. Issue was that HA runs in a docker container (linuxserver.io image) and auto-detected the containers ip and not the host ip

  3. I get the screen with voice command examples and click the "setup with addons" button (pretty sure it was only called "Einrichten" = "setup" in german). Now a empty popup is shown and I'm really confused. I guess HA is confused because I have an unsupervized setup, so no addons.

I know that I have a unconvential/unsupported setup. Still it was great that I was able that none of these issues took me more that a couple of minutes to solve ๐Ÿ™‚ Have to play around more in the next few days.

Feel free to point me to a better place to report feedback or setting this post to resolved
