- Pick a date to quit. When you do this, the day before, wash everything to get the smell out. Use air fresheners to remove house/room smell.
- This sounds crazy but drinking ice water when you have craving will kill the craving. This worked SIGNIFICANTLY for me.
- Find a low calorie thing you can suck on for longer cravings for the action. I used Jollyranchers.
- SUPPORT SUPPORT SUPPORT. You need a support group that will help keep you accountable. I was lucky when I quit in 2007 that there was a forum I used as my support group.
- Get rid of ashtrays and lighters on your quit date.
I quit when you could still smoke in bars, and hung out at them because of karaoke. Not smoking around my friends was the hardest thing.
These are actually very great tips! Thank you!
Now ask me for the date ๐
oh I got one.
The date is important, and the biggest thing you need to do is hold yourself to it.
Which is that whole willpower thing.
But there is never a "right time" to quit. You just need to do it and deal with the stress as it comes.
yeah but I got weak just so many times after it
That's where you need the support.
that's why I smoke
The one hard part is those late night cravings.
dog bites its tail ๐
So you need someone you can talk to actively then to keep yourself accountable.
That's what made the forum so good.
I could hop on a post and anyone awake would hop in for support.
We are our own worst enemy!!
I tried a cigarette about 3 months after I quit and was like "yeah, no, this is awful why was I doing this...."
Now I smoke weed, but that's a different story. >.>
yeah, I only smoke joints tho
