#Help Needed: Reconnecting tado° Thermostats with Home Assistant via Matter

Hi everyone,
I’m running Home Assistant OS as a VM on Unraid and using a separate Docker container for the Matter Server. Everything was working fine, and I had my tado° thermostats connected and running smoothly.

Unfortunately, I made a mistake and removed the Docker container hosting the Matter Server. After reinstalling the container and removing the old hardware entries from Home Assistant, I tried to reconnect the thermostats, but they won’t pair again.

Does anyone have experience with this issue or know what I might be missing? Any advice on what to check or how to troubleshoot would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance! 😊

Here’s what I’ve tried so far:

Reset the thermostats and the tado° Bridge. Re-added them to the tado° app, and everything is working fine there.
Removed and reinstalled the Matter and Thread services in Home Assistant.

The network setup of the new Docker container is matching the previous one? If you use the tado bridge then Thread is IMHO out of the picture, so its down to the Matter Server being able to speak via the bridge to the devices. Do you see the mdns announcement from the bridge on the Matter server instance? Can you resolve its IPv6 and ping6 it?

Why the matter server as docker container and not use the official matter addon within HAOS which also comes with backups ? This is just seeking for trouble

If you really destroyed the data of the container, you need to completely factory reset the devices.
