I got a MyQ Garage Door opener, but eventually they forced everything through their app (lame).

Is there a better system out there that is more open? I was hoping to just install a new Garage door Opener that had a good integration natively, but if I had to I could just get external compoennts, but its 2025 and I am hoping not to.

What would you recommend?

Neither of those are garage door openers, or am I misunderstanding

#

Those are remotes, sensors, wall console, etc

They connect to your existing opener

There's no good choices that have native support AFAIK, they're all cloud based

It's not elegant but you could just combine a button pushing bot with tilt or contact sensor.

#

That's what I did because I didn't want to bother with wiring.

#

So I just put a Switchbot bot on a remote and a Yolink tilt sensor on my garage door. That way I know for sure that it's opened or closed.

I have a Genie door opener with the Tailwind IQ3. Works perfectly.
