I’ve been having a little look into the home assistant preview edition and also looking at getting a pi zero 2w with a respeaker hat and speakers.

I’ve seen YouTubers have a look into the preview edition and it doesn’t function as well as they expected.

I want to use it mainly for my smart devices and playing music using Spotify or my plex music. Some people had a lot of problem with that and was wondering if it’s something that’s being fixed soon and if it’s worth buying it now or making my own

Not sure what the reviews are saying, but i have voice pe and can request to play music from Spotify by voice and have it play either to my voice pe or to Chromecast devices. Also use them to control devices in my house, ask for weather forecast, get calendar events, query device statuses, etc.

Sure! Don't let me steer you away from choices if you have something specific in mind, but I think the Voice PE, Koala Satellite, or Sattelite1 from FutureProofHomes would all be better options and yield better results than a raspi with a Respeaker Hat. These all use the XMOS chip which has very good performance in my experience (and others 🙂 )
