So around a week ago my devices in LocalTuya stopped working and I finally decided to check on it. I didn't know what to do so I just deleted one device and tried to re add it. I got the message saying my subscription to cloud development plan has expired. Is this something that will happen every 6 months or so and would require me to make a new developer account or something? If that's the case then admittedly it makes me not even want to bother since I only have a few Tuya devices and I'm okay with them being cloud dependent.

On another note, this made me open up the Smart Life account for the first time in ages. I went looking around since there have been updates. I noticed something interesting, there is now a local control option and one of my two devices supports it. I gave it a try and blocked that device from the internet and I was still able to control it in the Smart Life app. Does this mean anything for HA developers so that maybe we can gain local control in the future without jumping through hoops like we're doing right now?

i read something about tuya having a cleanup and booting all cloud dev plans that had not been actively used. and lots of localtuya users had to reenable.

I figured it was something like that. I only have 2 Tuya wifi lights. So I'm fine giving up trying to cloud cut them.

i also gave up on tuya wifi stuff some years ago and replaced what i had left with zigbee

the only thing left using wifi and cloud integration now is the doorbell. camera over zigbee will never be a thing

I had a ton of Tuya wifi devices but replaced almost all of them. Only 2 remain because they're insignificant in my home set up.

Like one of them is a light bar which is just accent lighting for a shelf. There are local control options, but I didn't care to spend the money for that.
