#Unable to add Tado X TRV to HA

I am having problem signing in the Smart TRV X in Home-Assistant. I have converted my Conbee II adapter to Thread and it is now a Thread Border Router, but when I want to connect the TRV it fails. No Thread Border Router is found, even though I have used all add-ons and integrations (Matter Server add-on, Open Thread Border Router add-on, integrations: Open Thread Border Router, Thread, Matter Beta, and also the Tado integration, although as I understand it, it is meant for use with the Tado Bridge X. In the Thread integration under Configuration, it says 'ha-thread-945c 1 border router'. Below it is another found network "MyHome1637748905", but there is no Thread Border Router in there. What could be the matter?

exactly how do you try to connect the TRV? HA app on a phone? Is the TRV already working (e.g. using a tado TBR), or is it a new/reset device that is not yet working at all?

I am using the HA Companion app on my iPhone 15 Pro Max, iOS 18.2.1. The TRV is new and not working yet. The only TBR I have is the one running on my Conbee II stick that I converted to a TBR, following the instructions from its vendor Dresden Elektronic. HA > Settings > Integrations > Thread > Configure shows shows a preferred network with 1 border router (see attached img). and under Other Network there is a network called 'MyHome1637748905' where there are 'No border routers found'.
Now when I try connecting the accessory (the TRV) from the Tado app on my phone it fails with the notification that a TBR is required. It also says that I need to take care that a Tado Bridge X, or another TBR is available. Although HA has a TBR available connecting fails. I talked to the guy from the shop where I bought the stick and he said that there are a lot of problems with this because Matter and Thread are not mature yet. So yesterday I ordered a Tado X Bridge which can arrive any moment now. I hope that I can then connect the thermostat and TRV's with the Tado Bridge. And then integrate it in HA with the HA Tado integration.

This guide details how to convert your old Conbee II Zigbee stick in to a Thread Border Router, reducing e-waste and saving money.

"MyHome..." sounds like an Apple setup, any chance you have some Apple device with a TBR already? (E.g. Home Pod mini or some AppleTV) The error you describe sounds to me like one of two possibilities: If the error comes very early in the commissioning process then probably the phone does not find the Thread credentials and therefore assumes you don't have a TBR. If the error comes very late in the process (i.e. after some waiting time and the phone 'doing stuff') then that would indicate that the phone did find some credentials but either could not reach the device via bluetooth or used the wrong Thread credentials and then the device ended up on the wrong Thread network. Make sure you're close to the device, that you power-cycle the device before the attempt, and look note carefully at what point of the (convoluted) commissioning process errors happen. I agree that the Matter setup process could be a lot better across phones and systems, this is not a HA-specific problem. 😦

WRT tado TBR, please note that you will have to use the tado app to set up the Bridge X, as this setup includes producing a Thread network key and storing it on the phone. Also please note that the tado app will re-use an existing Thread network key if found on the phone, to extend an existing Thread network. If you have an unclear Thread network situation or do not want that then consider using a different phone for the setup.

And finally, the HA tado integration did not support tado X, last I checked. The way to integrate tado X devices in HA AFAIK is only via Matter.
