ha - 25.1.1
tried intergrations - tuya, tuya local, local tuya

i have a success story of Tuya TH01 and i want to try it, but even if i try the above 3 intergrations, the connection fails in the end
the error is different for each intergration, but it looks like below

  • tuya : This device has no entities (added successfully but device is not visible)
  • tuya local : Unable to connect to your device with those details. It could be an intermittent issue, or they may be incorrect. (values are entered correctly, and i tried change the protocol version)
  • local tuya : An unknown error occurred. See log for details. (name, host, device id, local key, protocol version are automatically filled out)

i want to be as successful as they are

If it is a battery powered WiFi device, it is only ever going to work via the cloud.

You can get a local connection to battery powered WiFi sensors if they have a button on them to force them to wake up, but that connection either won't last, or worse, it will last and your battery will be flat within hours.

But in that video there is no mention of local, I am pretty sure he is using the built-in Tuya cloud integration.

i bought it after wawtching the video above, but i think it's better to use it only the tuya app

If you do replace it, get a zigbee one, WiFi for battery powered devices is not a good choice (and Bluetooth despite being a "standard" is also tied up in proprietary pairing schemes so not universally usable without the vendor's cloud). But as the video shows, and the tuya-local report above, the device should be working in Home Assistant via the cloud with the standard integration.

It appears to be for others.
