so I did my backup before I proceeded to update HA and added Bubble card via HACS, did a restart and I no longer have access to HA page on computer or phone. I restarted the Rpi and I can still ping it and the remote switch still turns on/off the lights. I did have SSH enabled but that did not work, how am I suppose to restore the backup?
I wish I had a cloned SD card, is there a better backup system ?

of course I can make a new Rpi HA image SD card, but for the future , what other options?
Backups left on the computer you're backing up aren't yet backups. What you should do is ensure that all backups are copied off automatically (there's add-ons to help with that, and the new 2025.1 features too)
If the remote still works though that suggests HA is still working, just maybe not on the same IP as before. Have you checked the console (keyboard + monitor)?

There have been a lot of questions on how to do a backup if you want to run it manually, not using the awesome automatic tools. This is a bunch of ways to back-up your system and not use the new 2025.1 introduced automatic stuff. Choices are good to have. Make sure you are making the right choice. Now while I do like the new method and do sug...
That I have done, I have it backed to to NAS. so I created a new SD card, when it booted it took me to page to upload backup, I drag and dropped the backup file and put encryption key in. it uploaded but got errors. yes I am sure IP is correct, I can scan my network, I see it and ping it, my router sees it by name.
What errors?
looking at SD card now, looking for file
which one ?
can't seem to read either file
I don't like this encryption on the backup, I can't work with file on PC.
That's not the HA logs, you want to look for configuration.yaml and there you'll find home-assistant.log, though that may not be the log you need
Keyboard + monitor may be a lot simpler
It'll be there, probably, but I've no idea where to find the various files, where on the console it's easy
ok, back, got the rpi on my desk and also using the original SD card . booting now
at CLI, connected ethernet after it booted, forgot, so IP address not displayed right now, but it says OS ver. HA OS 14.1 and core is 2025.1.0
ok, i see , did banner, ip address is correct.
Can you type login and then ping your router?
yes, ping is alive
Then ha core log should have something about HA, hopefully
i just found the command to put in safe mode. was looking for instructions on using this console, not sure whats it's called
log , is yikes, but I have no way of cut and paste to show you
half the screen is red and orange
how do we disable stuff to narrow it down, looks like hacs and reolink ,esp can not connect
errors everywhere
Well, that could be network problems, including DNS
Safe mode is the good starting point
ouch, so Safe mode loads Home Assistant Core, but no custom integrations, no custom cards, and no custom themes. If the issue does not persist in Safe mode, the issue is not with Home Assistant Core. Before reporting an issue, check if the issue persists in Safe mode.
so the problem persists in my case
how do shut down properly in HA CLI?
