I've casted the same dashboard to my nest hub gen 2 that has the theme set to black so it made the cards black and also the background but now only the cards are black and not the background as well, is there a way to change it all back to black?

i was just looking at the same with the dashboard i stream to my tv via chromecast

i see this in configuration.yaml

when i edit the dashboard there are no themes available. is that the same for you?

i installed the slate theme through hacs and now i do have one theme

switched to that in the dashboard editor and it went dark as expected.

now i have to wait for a refresh on my tv automation...

Just coming here to post this, so +1

I do see themes available when I edit the dashboard, and changing between them does change the look and feel of the buttons on the dashboard, but seems to have no impact on the white background.

it changed the background for me when i look at the dashboard in the web browser. but not when it is cast to my chromecast.

Incidentally I had previously used a theme that had a background image (clear-dark) and it correctly cast to the Nest Hub, but a month or two ago an update killed that and made it cast a white background like this. I swapped to another theme that had just a solid dark background and it worked again.

this is weird. it got fixed by 2025.1.4 becoming available.

today my cast desktop renders with dark background again, but i have not upgraded from 2025.1.3 yet.

Yep. IIRC from one of the above threads, this is dependent on the version that is deployed to Nabu Casa

even for those of us who don't use Nabu Casa, apparently the cast functionality does
