i was just looking at the same with the dashboard i stream to my tv via chromecast
i see this in configuration.yaml
# Load frontend themes from the themes folder
frontend:
themes: !include_dir_merge_named themes
when i edit the dashboard there are no themes available. is that the same for you?
Yeah I don't see any themes either
i installed the slate theme through hacs and now i do have one theme
switched to that in the dashboard editor and it went dark as expected.
now i have to wait for a refresh on my tv automation...
nope. still white background on the tv
Just coming here to post this, so +1

it changed the background for me when i look at the dashboard in the web browser. but not when it is cast to my chromecast.
Same here

Now even those cast with a white background
Hopefully gets some traction, this is killing me hehe

Hub was set to auto as it has been since setup over 18 months ago so it casts between light...
It's fixed in 2025.1.4!
this is weird. it got fixed by 2025.1.4 becoming available.
today my cast desktop renders with dark background again, but i have not upgraded from 2025.1.3 yet.
