To add a little info, this sensor is going into my chicken coop to manage their heater
nothing with battery will like the winter really
zigbee outdoors is also a very mixed bag
i would recommend either buying something wifi thats grid attached with a temp sensor like from shelly or to diy something easily with a d18b20 and esphome
I am happy with the Switchbot outdoor sensor. It is Bluetooth though.

this one? and does it work well with HA?
I'm happy with it. I'm using that with an ESPHome Bluetooth proxy.
Reporting temperature, humidity, battery level and BT signal strength in the integration.
It can also be calibrated via the Switchbot app, if needed.
do you know if it requires an active bluetooth connection or if a shelly gen2+ bluetooth proxy would also work?
I haven't tried Shelly BT proxies yet. It is using a passive BLE connection, IIRC.
But I might be wrong.
I use a simple Aqara sensor on my patio, it worked all the way down to -30. But the batteries dies faster than those inside
(1 year vs 2)
The Switchbot outdoor sensor is rated for −20 to 60°C (-40 to 60°C with lithium batteries) and IP65.
I think I'll go for the switchbot sensors ... you get 3 for 26€ on amazon at the moment 😬
