Hello everyone

Brand new to Home Assistant, I created a USB key that I plugged into one of my PCs to try out HA.

It looks really great, but how disappointed I was to see that my Thank's brand connected plugs and bulbs (they work via WiFi), purchased from Gifi, were not recognized...
However, I can use them with Google Home.
I tried to connect them to Tuya and Smart Life but they are not recognized.

Do you know if there is another method for them to be recognized in HA? Or do you know if the developers will add them to HA one day?

Thanks

A quick Google finds nothing helpful, but gifi is a stupid name that's hard to search for

#

Have you got a link to a product page?

Ok, so it's really some "Thanks Connect" thing

Yes, that's it. Unfortunately, I've already read this post... And I'm disappointed to see that in a year nothing has changed.

#

Can we make integration suggestions to HA designers?

Sure, create a post on the forum

There's a feature requests section

Unless ThanksConnect have a published API the odds aren't good though

Ok, thank you very much

I'd recommend you return them and buy something already supported - ideally something not Tuya

Unfortunately I can't return this equipment because I've had them for a while, the deadline has passed. I'm looking to switch to equipment with the Zigbee protocol, unfortunately given the number of objects I need and the price it won't be for right away...

the thank's faq claims that the now dead tuya plugin for jeedom automation platform had support for the devices. maybe see if developers of local tuya or tuya local would want to ping that dev and find out how to make these devices talk?

Not stupid, I'll send them a message

#

where can i contact them?

to get google translate to work on that page you need to override the input language to french. it seems to detect something entirely different

#

so it seems the thank's stuff is a variation of tuya

#

they must have done something a little bit weirder than most other tuya rebrands since you cannot set them up in the tuya app

There doesn't appear to be anything special in that code to support Thanks devices. It is cloud only, using an old version of Tuya's cloud APIs though. If the Thanks app lets you scan a bar code (under the Profile or Settings menu - Tuya Smart labels it "Me" in English), you could try using that with the built in Tuya integration or tuya-local, but no guarantees.

i have seen some reports people are unable to bind these thanks units to the tuya app. but this web page makes it look like they really are tuya devices.

otoh looking at their web page (i don't really read french) - are they really coming out with relevant/current tech? or are they best forgotten and left behind?

Yes, I've seen the reports that the devices are unable to pair with the Tuya Smart and SmartLife apps, which is why I suggested looking for the QR code in the Thanks app and giving that a go. But it could also be that the devices don't work with the newer pairing method, as the apps let you switch between two methods now.
