Hi all,
This is my first time trying to do something like this, so I’d love some advice!
For the past year, I’ve been running Home Assistant on my home server in a small container (Proxmox setup), and it’s been working fine. I passed in my Bluetooth and Zigbee devices through the server, and everything ran smoothly.
However, I recently reorganized my room, and the server had to be moved outside, which unfortunately put it out of range of my Bluetooth and Zigbee devices.
To fix this, I picked up a small PC (a Chromebox) and plan to install a lightweight Linux distro on it. My goal is to make this a dual-purpose device:
Jellyfin: For streaming content (all the heavy calculations will still be done by the main server).
Home Assistant: Specifically for handling Bluetooth and Zigbee devices in my room, as the Chromebox will be within range.
I’m assuming this setup involves a bit more than plug-and-play. I plan to pass in the Bluetooth and Zigbee devices, then reconfigure Home Assistant to recognize and use these new locations.
Does this plan sound feasible? Is there anything I should watch out for while setting this up, or any tips to make the process smoother?
Cheers, lads! Appreciate the help!
