#Best hardware for a wall switch-controlled outlet meant for a floor lamp?

I have several Zigbee lights in my living room that I control exclusively from the HA app. I also have a currently unused outlet that's controlled by a wall switch, probably meant for a floor lamp.

What device would be the best to plug into that outlet so that I could set up an automation that takes advantage of the physical switch connected said outlet? I'm not sure if normal Zigbee smart outlets are "meant" to be cycled on and off that much in that way. That is, it'd be like unplugging and plugging back in the outlet rather than controlling it with the app or physical button that's usually included on those outlets.

Maybe a better approach would be to repalce the wall switch with a smart switch rather than buy a plug-in thing? I'd just like to avoid touching wiring if possible

it's a "power outage detector" that plugs in and has a little battery

avoid putting any mesh network routing devices (zigbee, z-wave, thread, etc) on a switched outlet. every time it gets switched off, it'll cause a disruption in the mesh that will cause connectivity issues to your other devices.

Yeah that’s what I was thinking. Seems like if I want to make use of that switch, I’d want to swap the switch for something smart.
