Hi everyone,
I’m having trouble integrating my Tapo C200 camera into Home Assistant to use its motion detection feature for automations. Here’s what I’ve done so far and the details:
Goal:
I want to trigger my Zigbee lights to turn on when the camera detects motion (person detection).
Camera Details:
Model: Tapo C200
MAC Address: 9C:A2:F4:0D:F8:6A
Hardware Version: 3.0
Firmware Version: 1.3.15 Build 240715 Rel.43073n(4555)
My setup:
ONVIF integration: Tried setting it up via Settings > Integrations > Add Integration > ONVIF.
IP Address: Correct and static (192.168.X.X).
Port: Default 80.
Username/Password: Verified and working (same as for the Tapo app).
Issue:
The camera is added successfully in Home Assistant, but I don’t see any motion detection entities.
ONVIF is enabled in the camera settings, and the motion detection works fine in the Tapo app, but I can’t access it in HA.
What I’ve tried so far:
Confirmed ONVIF is supported by the C200.
Checked logs in Home Assistant, but no clear errors related to ONVIF appear.
Attempted to use RTSP instead of ONVIF, but I’m unsure if motion detection is accessible this way.
Questions:
Does the Tapo C200 expose motion detection through ONVIF?
If not, is there an alternative way to access motion detection in Home Assistant (e.g., via RTSP or custom tools)?
Are there specific steps to ensure ONVIF motion detection entities show up?
Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated! Please let me know if I need to provide more details.
Thank you!
