Hello everyone,

I would like to get few new devices so I can integrate with my HAOS.
I was thinking about adding 2-3 Thermostats and I also need light switches, as currently I am using smart Tuya bulbs and they are not reliable at all.
The problem is, I live in Europe and my country doesn't have access to budget or quality equipment, not to mention that the shipping is very pricy and shipping from eBay or Amazon is not possible at all.

I don't know if Temu is reliable but x4 Thermostats, 4 light switches and Zigbee base would cost me around 50$ shipping included. While all this I could find in local store for about 250$. (Local shops also don't give warranty on smart equipment, so I don't see a reason spending 200$)

Currently, I am running HAOS on generic x64 device.
I have integrated my AC, CCTV partially, LED strips and some bulbs.
Now I would like to remove those bulbs (move them to less needed rooms like garage and basement), and replace them with smart switches that would allow me to control the light from HA and wall switch (currently, if I turn the wall switch on, bulb would go completely offline, which makes sense as bulbs require full power so they could be accessed from HA)
I really hope SMART wall switches would work for both, wall switch and from HA?

I found these ones, but as I lack experience, I don't know would they work...

If I order 4 pcs of alternative, it would cost me almost the double of what cheap ones cost...

#
  • I would need to get a Zigbee HUB which I have no problems including in the order. I would also like to get few thermostats and few other sensors that are Zigbee supported.

tuya wifi gear is probably the thing you do not want to buy at all due to their mandatory cloud connection

I only have Tuya's bulbs, that sort of work for me? But I really want to switch to Zigbee. The issue is, ordering around 10 Zigbee devices from Temu would cost me around 120$ and if I would look for the same ones in my country, it would cost me around 300$...

#

I heard Zigbee is reliable so I guess I am after that.. I just have 0 knowledge of how Zigbee works as I am running HAOS on SFF.

if you want cheap stuff you usually end up throwing it away if its tuya inside. while there are some devices and brands which are good enough, there is basically no enforced quality control on what they will sell to you with such badges on

#

for decent gear you dont necessarily look into stuff that is priced next to hue but you will end up paying a buck more than the absolute cheapest

#

have a look at products from ikea, innr and aquara for devices and get a decent gateway instead of some weird hub for them, like the slzb or homeassistant branded one

I completely understand, the issue is...
Where I live, we don't have access to high or even medium end equipment...
Tuya and Zigbee are the only choices and they are expensive as well, people order them so they could resell them for over 300% profit per item.
And sadly, I can't order anything from E-Bay or Amazon.. And even if I could, I am sure it wouldn't arrive in 1 piece. So basically it leaves me with 2 choices... Temu/AliExpress or local shops that give no warranty on Tuya/Zigbee equipment. I would rather wait 2 months for shipping than pay the same bundle in my local shop for extra 200$... If it makes sense.. Sorry, English is not my native..

Apologies, I have no clue.. Yes I am planning to do it myself, even if I am not the most smartest person, I mostly have great income on my projects.

#

How do you mean if it is legal? Its my house xD

#

Of course, but lets say it is legal, as my home was a brick barn 60 years ago, I renovated it almost all by myself, with electricians help, but I installed my AC, my outlets and plenty more stuff...

#

I also need to figure out do I need "no neutral wire" adapter, looking at this, I think I do.

#

Still need to test it out surely, sorry for going a bit off topic, wanted some clarifications..

#

Don't worry, thank you very much for clarifications

#

Do you use zigbee?

#

I would be happy with off and on option. (I would like to toggle it from the wall or from HAOS)

#

How did you connect it to ha? Do you have a hub that controls them?
