Hi @tardy nymph,
There is an ecowitt integration in core that I use.
Is your system running https for everything?
Otherwise there is something in the Github that you can install with the HACS loader integration that integrates it using MQTT.
It seems to be, I cannot get a response from any http addresses.
Due to the type of HA installation I cannot install add-ons.
Personally I don't encrypt local, just my external login stuff.
Are you using container?
There is HAOS, Supervised, Container, and Core as official install types.
The first 2 have addons
Not sure, there is no option for add-ons in the settings menu though.
But Supervised is not advised except for advanjced users.
All I need is local so I can point the ecowitt custom server to the IP address of my HA install but I cannot figure out to remove Https for local access
Supervised and Core are the hardest, HAOS the easiest, container you need to be good at docker installs to use efficiantly.
I don't know docker, but you can spool up an nginx docker that would work.
Not sure which install you're using? Check the Home Assistant info page
I think it's core.
Just an opinion, but someone that is having problems with nginx probably is not ready for HA core. I know I couldn't run it and I've been doing this for over 5 years at this point.
I have no idea how to advise you.
I understand. I'm kind of stuck as the HA version I have is a specific version that talks to my control system so I can't change that. Lots of people recommended the ecowitt but I didn't find out about the HTTP/HTTPS issue until I tried to get it working.
To be honest I think I'll just return the ecowitt and look for something that integrates without jumping through a load of hoops.
