#HA won't start

Everything was working fine until i created an automation that I think put the system in a endless loop. As soon as I saved it I lost the connection to HA Raspberry Pi. I cannot contact it via SSH as well. I have an SSD instead of a SD card for my files. I connected the SSD on another RPI that has the full desktop. I found the Automations.yaml file. When I edit this file I can see the automation in question. I can delete the automation but it won't let me save the file due because it is read only. I then change the properties of the file so anyone can edit. Now I am getting a permission error. First of all, is this the best way to fix this problem? I have seen in a few places where it states I should not be editing the file this way. I feel confident if I can just get rid of the few lines of yaml code that made the system crash in the first place, HA would start up fine.
Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Gerry
