Are there any z-wave temperature sensors out there that are either:

  • around the $20 price point
  • have an accuracy of +/- 0.1 °C (which I think comes out to about 0.9 °F)
#

If not, my other inclination is an ESP32 + DHT22 sensor. Unless someone has a better idea in terms of hardware

My goal is to more accurately monitor the temperature in the baby's room, maybe automate the thermostat to adjust accordingly. I have a temperature reading from the baby monitor, but it's not connected into HA, so I can't automate anything with it.

Maybe also do the same thing in my bedroom? Idk

The only time you'll ever find a Z-Wave device for $20 is from Zooz during their big sales (Black Friday, etc.). Likewise, I think only Zooz makes a dedicated temp/humidity sensor, the rest are multi-sensor devices (motion, etc.) for much more.

The ZSE44 claims +/- 0.2 C

The dedicated temp/humidity sensor from zooz is great. I have a couple. Zwave devices are almost always going to be priced higher than a zigbee device because they have a licensing cost built into every device.
