#HA Voice Assistant PE - Playing Media on Media Player Entity

Been pretty impressed with the HAV PE so far. I have it set up with whisper and piper as local voice pipelines and they work as expected with the English language. The hardware looks and also feeeeeels nice. Works great for voice.

The only thing I could not get up and running was using the media played entity to play music or media for more than about 30 seconds. I had it set up through music assistant to test it out and after about 30 seconds of music the media player entity would go back to “idle”, pausing the music

Has anybody else had this issue as well?

Did you check the music assistant logs? It may explain what is going on

Also looking at the VPE logs via esphome might shed some light onto what is causing this.

Valid point, to check the logs. Haha; will do as soon as I get back to my computer.

Thank you. Will post the logs if it happens again when I try it again

# elfin ermine Any news on this? Problem solved?

No, problem not solved. I did figure out that it happens not exclusive to roughly 30 seconds, but even 40 minutes later it goes to idle. I had the ESP logs open to monitor status of the PE while I was streaming music but then, user error happened, and I walked away for a bit. Then by the time I realized the music stopped... the PC was asleep and my logs didn't update. So that's on me. To be honest though, I'm not hundred percent certain which logs would be the most beneficial: Music Assistant Server, ESP Device Compiler, or the what I was thinking would be the device itself by pulling up the logs in the ESP Dashboard. However, due to the inconsistent (apparently) nature of the media_player going idle..... I really am not beat for staring at my logs until something of note happens.

However, I will post the logs if I observe it when I'm around to record them. Sorry for a not more interesting or problem solved type of update, 😦

Good to know it's not just by me, haha. However the bad part is that I have no idea how to fix it. Hoping that just bringing this issue to knowledge will let somebody with the skills necessary be able to do some more in depth digging

Is it only those streaming services or also local files in a playlist?

For me it's only the Radio service, spotify appears to be ok. The radio service will only play for around 10 to 20 seconds before it fails
