Hello

I just had a motorised sliding gate installed. An ACDC boxer 500 here in Australia.

I am looking for advice on what hardware to wire into the control board so that I can

  1. Control the gate from within HA
  2. Determine the state/position of the gate

There is room Inside the motor housing which is plastic.

I have wifi and ZigBee networks within range.

The motor has 24v power coming into it from the house and has some outputs labels 13+ which I don't completely understand yet but perhaps are good 12v sources?

I don't seem to be able to attach images while drafting this so I'll try to add some afterwards.

This is the manual with information on the board layout and functions.

Have you looked at the RATGDO as a potential option? it seems to have all the pins you need for it and its nice and small easily fit in the gate!

Thanks, I'd not heard of it and yea it seems to be a workable option. I don't think I can take advantage of most of the features so I'll keep looking into how I'd get state sensing

you could track it with a door sensor and a 3d printed casing

but you'd only get open and closed

Yes I've read about some hardwired reed sensors for garage doors which work over slightly larger distances than indoor door sensors which might do the trick. I'm also reading that some Shelly products probably will do what I need. I.e handle the open and close circuits as well as have some spare inputs for the state sensor

oh yes 100% It might be worth looking into getting a SHELLY plus 1!!!

i only recently just purchased myself one not long ago and i haven't recieved it yet but it seems pretty straight forward my garage door has a similar terminal so yeah there's that 😄

I tried to work out the pins with a multimeter last night.

I get a pretty solid 13.4v from the 13+ terminal.

I don't seem to get anything from the open stop and close terminals. And I tried continuity mode to see if shorting them to GND caused the gate to move but it did not. Not sure what I'm missing.
