Just got a new house, and looking to fit it out with home automations.

Is there a spreadsheet or megathread in the community for the best sensors to get or most recommended items or anything of this ilk?

For running home assistant, I've mentioned this before, but you can get a small mini pc or sff pc from facebook marketplace or ebay for around $100AUD. I would recommend HP Elitedesks, Dell Optiplexes, and those Lenovo m710q systems

also if you have a fronius PV inverter system I know that you can actually connect them to home assistant

IoT from bunnings is kinda expensive tbh lol

For security cameras I would recommend Frigate with a Coral Dual Edge TPU (or a single edge tpu) as an NVR with AI detection capabilities

I normally order them from mouser, and their delivery in oz is pretty good

you can also use a usb coral, but it's more expensive

also if you have a modern advantage air system, I'm fairly sure that can be connected to home assistant

but that isn't really a recommendation, more like saying that you can, since I don't have one of those modern MyPlace systems. They look cool though.

if you don't need anything too powerful even better is a cheap ARM SBC, due to lower power consumption
