#ZHA - update Tuya firmware
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
Hello@hushed wyvern,
HA can only update firmware or know that there is an update available for something if the mfgr supplies the firmware for HA to distribute with it's server. HA does not pull firmware from random sources, for obvious reasons.
If the mfgr does not work with HA, there are no updates.
For instance Reolink HA does not have copies of the firmware, but the devices report there is a firmware upgrade available, and user is instructed to update from the source. If the mfgr doesn't do any of this then there is nothing.
Ok, understand, thank you. So no way to update firmware via ZHA? Only way is to buy Tuya hub, connect device to this hub and update there? Or there is way to download manualy update file, put it somewhere in HA? Or to provide update path?
You don't update firmware for zha, if it is a zigbee thing, it will run ZHA now. You have to install a coordinator and enable the ZHA integration in HA. Then it can talk to it.
So maybe tell us your actual problem, not how to implement your solution which may oy may not be the same thing.
The XY problem is asking about your attempted solution rather than your actual problem.
I know. I have Sonoff USB as coordinator. And everything works. I can update Ikea devices firmware using ZHA OTA. My question is - is it posible to update Tuya devices firmwares?
theoretically yes. but you need to have the fw, and there are not too many tuya firmwares in the wild, you can enable the z2m firmware provider and it will give you basically what is known, but some tuya firmwares have bricked devices as well due to so many similar devices that are basically the same but not really.
So adding z2m will add this https://github.com/Koenkk/zigbee-OTA/blob/master/index.json ? My device is TS130F _TZ3000_eg7awg6a and is not there.
