Hi.

I have my own router, my NAS... i installed HA, i thought i will be free and independant. That's the point.

But today i had a break on my internet connection and, then, i can't had access to my lights. HA needs to connect to tuya.com !

What i am missing in my configuration ? Is zigbee systems with tuya really free ?

Maybe i made an error and there is another tech than zigbee/tuya to be free.

Not having lights if there's a lost of internet is a HUGE problem.

how are you implementing "zigbee tuya" - are you using their hub? because all that does is take your nice local zigbee network and route it through their servers

you need to run a locally hosted zigbee network with zigbee2mqtt/zha and a coordinator if you want the network to be well.. local

It's not a hub from "Tuya" but from another brand

if it uses the smartlife app, it's tuya

Should i buy a zigbee key and install thing like Jeedom on my NAS ? Can you give me an url with a tutorial ?

I will then buy a zigbee radio module. Hopefully my hub just cost me 10$.

Watch out on the Tuya stuff, they use their own protocol on top of Zigbee, so support has to be added for each device. This is for ZHA or Z2M, so you will want to check compatibility before buying additional Tuya devices. And that's not 100% since Tuya likes to change the signatures of their devices and continue to sell them under the same make and model.

If it used the smart life app, it's Tuya, generally Tuya devices when paired will have odd model and manufacturer names. They will look something like TS0601 by _TZE284_7ytb3h8u doesn't really help when buying things, but most stuff on aliexpress or similar will be Tuya.

Tuya = Cloud unless you DIY something thru Home Assistant.
