I am new with HA, and the Zigbee devices... but I have a ThirdReality Zigbee USBC Dongle https://3reality.com/product/3-0-usbc-dongle/ and a bunch of sensors and plugs. I am having issues with some of my devices that are about 30-40ft away from the dongle where I can't talk to them. How can I get better performance? I also remember at the time when I installed the dongle that it said that it was possibly going to be depricated and removed (or something like that). Is that just the dongle I have right now? should i be looking at a differet dongle, or getting rid of the zigbee all together?

I was under the impression that it was a mesh type system, and that every device was basically a repeater, but I am thinking that I might be mistaken on that. Is there a repeater or something I can use?

Hello @teal wagon,
Zigbee is a mesh, not a central hub talking to all things.
It is likely if you are having problems most of those sensors are battery / end devices that do not route.
Add some routing devices to fix coverage. A few wall plugs, like 2 a room will do it. You don't have to use them, just have them as routing if nothing else.

I have 8 thirdreality smart plugs (with energy monitoring), 2 temp/humidity sensors (battery power), and 2 "smart light bulbs" that I just added. the issue is one of the smart bulbs that is outside at the front of my house, and a smart plug that is in my garage.

I guess maybe I just have a little more research on what it is that I should be doing

Another problem tends to happen if someone is using a routing smart bulb by connecting it to power and removing power. This havoc the mesh. Are the smart bulbs powered all the time?

I just added them, and yes, they are going to eb powere all the time. No one in my house knows how to turn off a light switch so this was my solution.

For me a lot of connection issues resolved themself when I made sure every device rather it be a router or end device was within range of at least a second device on the path back to the coordinator.
