Does anyone know how these products are related from the technical angle? The hardware for the PE looks very similar. It seems ESPHome has a dedicated repo for this new product at esphome/home-assistant-voice-pe

Basically will improvements in voice trickle into both hardware platforms? And does the PE share the same model files?

I know about it, as I adopted PE firmware for Respeaker Lite months ago. Here's final product, which I didn't want to publish before PE release: https://github.com/formatBCE/Koala-Satellite
It has same capabilities, better speaker.

This satellite for Home Assistant is based on ESP32-S3 DevkitC, Respeaker Lite board with XMOS XU316, with LED strip and dial. It's using most of the Voice PE device features, supports BLE ...

Very interesting! But I’m still confused as to how the critical hardware used on the Respeaker Lite and the Voice PE differ? Is it the same XMOS part and ESP32 variant?

Yes, both have XU-316 and ESP32S3 N16R8.
If you use Lite with soldered-in XIAO S3, then it's N8R8, which means smaller persistent storage - but it's still enough for this usage. I have 6 Respeaker satellites around the house, they work well.

Was there any hardware connection wise that would make Voice PE have more or less control over the xu-316? does it still let you use the function where it turns down the music to operate a voice cammand etc?

Is there any way to make it stereo from the get go?

Is the music quality of respeaker lite mainly limited by the speaker or DAC / other?

What would be the easiest „mod“ to get an Amazon Echo / Apple HomePod Mini like music quality?
