Hello,
Wondering if there are any ways to make setup of the IOS app easier? Currently (for my setup) the app has to be downloaded from the app store, then setup is run. My custom URL has to be entered, followed by a unique username and password. I then need to add their endpoint to any notifications. Any methods for simplifying this? Some thoughts:

  • Setup link that can be sent that configures the app with URL, username, password
  • Ability to use existing account, either LDAP, or federation with IDP's such as google, live, facebook etc
  • provisioning process. E.g. I set them up in HA, creating a user, they are emailed a logon credential. At that time they are added to notifications based on their name (vs their device)

Admittidly this process doesn't happen often, but with automation (and HA being the center of it) the ability to make the solution easier to use (for users) and manage (for me) would be nice.

A QR code for logging in new devices would maybe be the quickest and easiest to manage from/in the companion app?

That would be effective, and a process (scanning a QR code) users are generally familiar with
