Which country you're in - USA
What your budget is - Flexible
What protocols you prefer - Preferably Matter but open to recommendations
Any features you want - Ability to turn on and off color changing bulbs

tl;dr Fresh home looking for recommendations on bulbs/switches overall 😄 .

In my previous home I stuck myself into the Phillips Hue brand with Google Home. I abhored the Phillips Hue bridges as well as their wireless remotes (I had the bad tendency to take them with me). Looking for color changing bulbs and wired switches. I do not mind if the switches just turn on or off and the color changing is done via voice/tablet

At the moment, I think the only available Matter smart switches which support decoupled (smart bulb) mode are the Inovelli White series. Keep in mind that they use Thread, not WiFi.

I have home assistant yellow which has both zigbee and thread. From my understanding Thread should be compatible with Matter. Zigbee is completely different.

Both do the same thing and basically make a peer to peer network amongst themselves so is it better to try to stick to one protocol?

The Inovelli white might be exactly what I am looking for 😀

I've had excellent results with Leviton 2nd gen smart wifi dimmers/switches running Matter, and the Home Assistant Matter controller.

Do the Leviton ones support smart bulb mode? I recall looking into them a while ago and couldn't find anything.
